Following last night's dinner at Dirty Duck Diner's, we said we'll be back... so here we are, for lunch. The place looks different in the day and upon being greeted by the staff at the entrance, we were led past a lotus pond, to our feasting table. Today, L decided he would give in to gluttony and have himself a plate of the famous crispy duck. Which meant, yes, I had to order my own. We picked the steamed rice+Indonesian vegetables combo this time.
Now, the wait (for food to be served) was kinda interesting. We noticed how everyone would stop by the lotus pond and go trigger-happy with the lotuses. We were amused by how amused they were with the lotuses! Because it wasn't something we would be attracted to. We were more attracted to the rice paddy fields that was like past the lotus pond. Afterall, isn't Bali all about the paddy fields? But just to amuse ourselves, I had to take a picture of, yes, the lotus.

L then noticed one of the staff by a table at the corner; in a daze, starring into space and 'stoning'.
He tells me, "Eh, look at that intern, stoning."
I turned around and was like, "How do you tell she's an intern?"
"Look at her, she's just blurring," he replied.
"HOW DO YOU KNOW! Maybe there's just nothing for her to do," I said.
At this point, our food arrived, and L took the chance to ask the staff! And true enough, she IS an intern! *laughs* I guess interns everywhere are the same, huh? If you don't feed them with enough work, they'll sit around and blur... or move the mouse around, click it a few times, close a window, open a window, close it again, re-open it again, hoping to smoke you into thinking he/she is busy. Kids these days, are appalling, if you'd ask me. Not saying there aren't any good interns though. Hell there are. And we're fortunate to have met one such person. She's so self-motivated, takes initiative and shows enthusiasm at work, it's nice to be learning something new from her, as much as she was learning from us, during her internship period! Back to the duck, before I get too carried away (because I could totally do an entire post just on interns!)
The spread today looked more appealing than last night's sauteed potatoes and side salad combo!

We finally tucked into our meal and L was truly a happy camper. He could eat this everyday, he claims. *whispers* I'll rather be eating my babi guling, and at half the price too! (Although I do enjoy this... I think I enjoy the babi guling a little bit more)
look at that chili! even I wanna eat it!
potent mix of onions, garlic and chili oil, I think! really fragrant but too spicy for me!

Although I think paying 72,000rp for half a tiny duck is a little on the pricey end, it is a gastronomic experience you would have to try here in Ubud. Afterall, it's gotten so many reviews, it can do with one more - Yours.
Towards the end of the meal, I caught L playing with his veggies, digging at it, and to my horror, he found a decapitated caterpillar! And we both hoped the other half wasn't in mine because if you have been reading, I did mention I cleaned out my plate of veggies! Ewwww! OK, let's just leave it at that. I would prefer not to discuss this any further.
can u spot half the caterpillar pitched on top of the bean sprout!
