The dinner lasted an hour. The prep took the whole morning and afternoon. There must be another way around this... but there isn't. That's what Chinese New Year is all about. Everyone to make an effort to reunite on the eve, and eat and chat and eat and chat. A time for meat & vege owners to reap us all off with the increase of prices everywhere. Not forgetting the bak kua sellers too!Why is everything getting more expensive when the economy's supposedly bad? Budgets are shrunk but the expectations remain the same. I can be gloomy and all but I'm sure there's light at the end of the tunnel. It's the Golden Ox year afterall. So it'd better be a guuuuuu-oood year!
Mum's gone to open shop at Chinatown... hoping to reap in all the last minute buys! And I'll be joining her later too. I know I said I hate to jostle with the crowd but I'm quite sure I'll be doing just that again this year. *cough cough* sucker
P.S. The sotongs didn't prove to be popular (although the boyfriend tries to be politically-correct about it.)
