The Experiment

The boyfriend and I were chatting about pineapple tarts (which I am totally craving for and haven't gotten my hands on! arrgh! But I shall leave that as a separate post) and such and somehow landed on the topic of microwave ovens and how they worked. OK, I've never been a curious kid. I never really wondered how things worked... even though I had the range of "Tell Me Whys" and encyclopedias in the house.

So, back to the microwave oven. I asked if I could bake pineapple tarts in a microwave (even though I sorta knew I couldn't but I never wondered why). The know-it-all boyfriend replied "No." and went on to explain: "The microwave is able to heat things up because of water molecules that are present". And then tasked me with this little experiment!
Put a glass of water inside microwave.
Put a glass of ice inside microwave.
Set the timer running.
*Ting*

I got my glass of hot water... and my glass of ice, still.
