Goodbye Kuta, Hello Ubud
Kuta proved to be too much for us this trip. The traffic jams were horrendous. We couldn't wait to scoot outta here. Rented a sepeda (that's 'bike' in Bahasa Indonesia) and made our way to Ubud. Riding was awesome this time round 'cos we got ourselves an automatic bike! (L didn't have to use his legs at all! Well, except 'peddling' the bike out from the parking lots, and peddling it like it's a skateboard! <---- and being honked at while at it!)

bike rental can go as low as S$5/day if you're renting it for a stretch of 5 days or more

Travel time's approximately 1.5hrs from Kuta to Ubud. I wouldn't exactly call it a scenic ride because half the time, we made sure we hid behind a larger vehicle, just to steer clear of the cops (you never know, one might just decide to flag you down and summon you for something. So always have some 'spare cash' for situations like that!)

Petrol is really cheap here. You could either fill up by the streets - a 2-litre bottle of "vodka" for 10,000rp, or stop by a petrol station. The latter option is slightly cheaper (4,500rp per litre) but might take longer to fill up as all locals use them. Bali is more fun when you bike. You get to ride off the beaten track and see what Bali has to truly offer.
