The one about the mossies
I hate them mossies. I used to be able to hear them circling around my ears and clapping them dead would be an easy feat. These days, they seem to have evolved. Very stealth. I don't see them. I don't hear them. And then I see the bites and feel the itch! Damnnit! And skin nearing the 40s don't recover like in the 20s. And because I am prone to keloids, I dread getting any bites/knocks/falls etc... anything that may scar me for life.
I was recently out on a shoot at Changi Beach Park and came home with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 sandfly bites! I now have to hide my legs behind jeans :( but then the weather's been too fucking hot so I don't really give a damn anymore about hiding those damn scars.
Anyway, coming back to the mossies... the boyfriend's theory for me about the mossies: they have not evolved (as much as I think they have). It's just that I've gotten older and my hearing and eyesight are failing me - therefore I can't see them and hear them as well! Is this really the case??

Huat Ah!
The God of Wealth and Fortune smiles on those who work. Yes, I never rested for Chinese New Year. As a matter of fact, I did not have my reunion dinner this year too. Was on shoot 9th Feb and worked through CNY until 12th Feb. Boo.

My January FY2013
This is gonna be a post about my January. I got myself started on "an-instagram-a-day" for the year, mainly because I've turned to the dark side and bought myself an iPhone. I had always envied people who would post #instagram pictures on their #twitter account. I so wanted those #filters! So when I finally got my hands on an iPhone, instagramming was the way to go. I probably use it more often than my twitter account these days.
Here's a round-up of what I've taken over the 31 days.
01: snacking on Marks & Spencer chips
02: limited hello kitty Pez collection from the bro
03: my mum's cacti
04: an old photo of the boyfriend and i at the airport, after our Lombok trip
05: my Pez heads
06: had diarrhea today and spent the whole time sitting/kneeling in the toilet
07: tea and banana to line the stomach after 2 days of diarrhea/vomiting
08: tags I made for the office fridge
09: the boyfriend's "man purse"!
10: view from my window, looking at the boyfriend driving out from the carpark
11: the black bird we spotted while at breakfast
12: bunch of God of Wealth dollies dancing to Gangnam Style at Vivocity
13: first failed attempt at making macarons
14: mom's gift from the cousin
15: filming at Esplanade walkway
16: dinner with my primary school mates at Dempsey Hill's CM-PB Contemporary Melting Pot & Bar
17: bus number plate spotted at the SMRT office

A year older than yesterday.
I forget how old I am. Like seriously. After 35, I stopped remembering. I had to actually ponder for a moment... I am thirty-eight today, but I feel just like when I was thirty-seven.
I had dinner with the boyfriend last night, at Pizzeria L'Operetta, although we had intended to eat at Spizza's on Club Street. We didn't manage to leave work early and had to end up parking a distance away (Tg Pagar!) to walk to Club Street (because Friday nights are a horrendous time to be out, especially at areas where people predominantly hang out to drink!), only to be told there were absolutely no seats available. I swear I would have dropped to my knees from the hunger, if not for the piece of cake from Melody that morning. So we retraced our steps to where we started, while stuffing our faces with the cake :)
That's how we ended up at Pizzeria L'Operetta. Only to have the boyfriend tell me this was one of the other spots he's picked for dinner. And I wondered why we had to walk all the way to Club Street in the first place. He's cute like that.
According to the "research" he's done online, this place supposedly serves good pizzas. Somehow, the Bella Napoli we had didn't turn out fuck-awesome and the dough was kinda chewy. But I liked how they topped the pizza with generous chunks of Mozzarella cheese!
We think we might give this place a second chance. The dessert was yummy though. Got me wondering how to whip up a Panna Cotta!
So there you go - that was last night. Back to today... the boyfriend came by and surprised me with a little gift! I totally wasn't expecting it because I already had the expensive Baby Belling for Christmas! It's another Thomas Sabo charm to add to my "work theme" collection. I haven't had a chance to snap a picture of it, but this is what it looks like:
I thought it was thoughtful of him to actually work around a theme. Ha ha ha! See, to date, he's given me the mobile phone charm and the laptop charm:
Come to think of it, I do actually prefer the silver charms vs the more colourful ones... looks like it's time to re-org what's hanging on my bracelet!
I also received a Coach bracelet from the 2 dollies this year. Also haven't snapped pictures of it. Maybe tomorrow. Speaking of which, I have to make a trip to Zara to exchange a piece of clothing I bought today. It's really frustrating to have to head back to the boutique for an exchange because I failed to notice that fucking big tear! ARGH! I'm just glad this wasn't a sale item, otherwise trying to get an exchange/refund would have been a bitch.
Till tomorrow...

I wish I could bake!
Visited the Public Garden Flea Market today and discovered some lovely baked goods by the Smitten Micro Bakery.
The cupcakes are sooooo pretty! I would have loved a try at everything... but Jo and I finally settled for the lemon cheesecakes, chocolate bunt cake and strawberry tartlette!
I ended up with extra jars of cheesecakes for W and D, whom I met later for dinner. It was a little sour (which I kinda liked!) and not too cheesy. According to the Smitten baker girl, it's low-fat too. The strawberry tartlette was just as lovely to the bite. It's a nice addition to any home parties and definitely something to consider if you're inviting your friends over for tea.
The Public Garden Flea Market at the MCI Building (formerly MICA) will last through Sunday, 20 Jan 2013, 1-7PM, so you might wanna head on down and check them out for yourself.
